Jonathan Buck

Jonathan M. Buck joined the Office of the Vice President for Legal Affairs in October 2025. He advises University leadership on matters involving constitutional and civil rights, employment, business transactions, real estate, administrative law, intellectual property, student affairs, and athletics.

Prior to joining the University, he served as outside general counsel to clients in the technology, real estate, and construction sectors while of counsel with De Leon Law PLLC. In the role of staff counsel with Volunteer Legal Services of Central Texas, Jonathan mentored hundreds of volunteer attorneys and developed innovative legal programs serving the Austin community. Earlier in his career, Jonathan practiced in the civil litigation and environmental sections of Kelly Hart & Hallman LLP and at Haynes & Boone LLP.

Jonathan served as a law clerk to the Hon. David Hittner of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas. He earned his J.D., with honors, from The University of Texas School of Law and his B.A. in Political Science from Colorado College.
